The U. S. Patent Office will continue its “Patent Quality Chat” on Tuesday, November 10th, from noon – 1 p.m. (U.S. Eastern Standard Time). The “Patent Quality Chat” is a webinar series that the USPTO began earlier in 2015 (you can view past chats via the USPTO’s webpage here– they’ll be listed by date/topic in the table).
November 10th’s chat will explore the “Update on the Enhanced Patent Quality Initiative” (EPQI for short), and will be hosted by Deputy Commissioner for Patent Quality Valencia Martin Wallace and Senior Advisor Sandie Spyrou.
The planned speakers will present details about key programs for enhancing patent quality, which were introduced earlier in October at the AIPLA Annual Conference. You can view highlights from the Annual Conference here.
In October, the Patent Quality Chat webinar topic was “Special Programs for Patent Prosecution”, hosted by Assistant Deputy Commissioner for Patent Operations Robert Oberleitner and Director of the Ombudsman Program Dale Shaw. They discussed special Patent Office programs aimed at enhancing patent quality. In particular, Mr. Shaw highlighted the Ombudsman Program and its usefulness. You can view a video recording of this one-hour event at the link here. The video, along with the slide presentation, can be found at the link, here.
